Small Winery Credit and Annual Production Report

The tax credit equals the excise tax the winery owes on wine or cider they sell during the fiscal year, up to $136,275.

You claim the credit the following fiscal year. For instance, if you produced 75,000 gallons or less of wine and cider January 1 – December 31, 2022, you can use the credit July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024.

Enter the amount you want to take on the credit line of your Form LB56F, Farm Winery Tax Return. Remember that the credit cannot exceed the tax liability.

Electronic Filers

• If you key Farm Winery return information into e-Services, enter your annual wine production in the first screen that opens when you file your December return.
• If you import Farm Winery return information into e-Services using our Microsoft Excel template, complete Worksheet LB56P (last tab in the workbook) and import the file into the December filing period.

Paper Filers

Complete and mail the Form LB56P, Small Winery Production Report, with your December Farm Winery return.

Remember! Report the number of gallons you produced and not the gallons you sold in Minnesota.
